Operations Supervisor (Afternoon Shift)

Our expectations: Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor is accountable for providing effective day to day management and leadership to their team.

They effectively allocate and maintain work responsibilities to provide customer deliveries and store transfers in a safe, efficient and damage-free environment.

The schedule for this position is Sunday to Thursday 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Your role: Accountable for providing effective leadership to their team by providing mentoring and building relationships with team members.

They will provide coaching, counseling and training to ensure competence and that work is completed in a safe, efficient and accurate manner.

Accountable for establishing the setup of work flows base in delivery orders and scheduling.

Assigns work to team taking into account available hours, skills sets and other resources to ensure operational targets are met.

Also, works with customer service team member to coordinate loads and carriers.

Promotes safety in the work environment and ensures all safety rules and procedures are followed including Occupational Health & Safety Act and Ministry of Transportation guidelines.

Identifies problem areas and arranges training when necessary.

Member of the JHSC.

Prepares and actively participates in the annual performance review process.

Ensures all hiring/termination decisions are made in conjunction with the Distribution Center Manager.

Investigates new logistical innovations that would enhance overall facility performance.

Attends job-related courses yearly to remain current on industry trends.

Conducts routine meetings with staff and encourages input in order to promote job enrichment and increase overall job satisfaction.

Assesses staffing requirements necessary to process business volumes and submits recruitment and training plan to Distribution Center Manager for review.

Continually reviews strategy throughout the year to evaluate effectiveness and augments as required.

Conducts routine space analyses to ensure maximum product stocking efficiency in an effort to increase delivery sku’s and maintain an efficient rate of inventory turnover.

Coordinates weekly cycle inventory count in a cost-effective manner.

Conducts reviews with their staff members.

Performs other job-related duties as required.

LI-FG2020 Job Requirements The qualifications we are looking for: 3-5 year prior supervisory or team leader experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment Previous experience in a Lumber & Building Materials/Flatbed Distribution Centre is considered an asset Post-secondary education is an asset Interpersonal skills to communicate information, foster a team-oriented work environment and provide appropriate coaching and training.

Effective problem solver, able to define a problem, gather data, analyze causes, determine solution criteria and generate solutions.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required to effectively delegate tasks, follow-up, monitor work performance, provide valuable feedback and hold individuals accountable to expectations.

Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to apply a sense of urgency to ensure customer service levels are maintained.

Ability to develop and monitor a business plan, identify and provide for the required resources to implement the plan.

Well-rounded product knowledge and a thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards and Ministry of Transportation guidelines.
