Job Description Sales ManagerAqsarniit Hotel & Conference Centre IqaluitScheduled to open Spring 2020, The Aqsarniit Hotel and Conference Centre, located in Iqaluit, is a 100% Inuit owned company of Qikiqtaaluk Corporation and is under contract to be managed by Holloway Lodging Management Services.

The hotel will be an upscale full-service operation with 94 guest rooms (including 12 suites), 6300 square foot conference centre (ballroom capacity 575), a lounge (186 seats), dining room (80 seats), lobby retail, and a fitness room.Holloway Lodging Corporation is one of Canada’s largest lodging companies and our goal is to be one of North America’s top-performing lodging companies.

For more information on Holloway please visit our website at Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line to the Vice President of Sales, the Sales Manager will be responsible for researching, following-up on and converting sales leads in order to achieve targeted market segments, revenues and occupancy as laid down in the property budget/business plan.

The successful candidate will contribute to an innovative but cost-effective Sales and Marketing Plan and manage accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded.The ideal candidate will be based in Ottawa, Ontario while travelling frequently for Iqaluit, Nunavut.The responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to:
·Meet assigned market segments budgeted sales and profit margin by soliciting, selling and confirming business as required through targeted sales calls, cold calls, sales blitzes
·Solicit and maintain ongoing contact with all active accounts in an effort to promote repeat business
·Prepare proposals and presentations, and lead negotiations to meet the needs of both client and hotels
·Research and/or have knowledge of the local competition and assess general market conditions
·Maintain and update files/account information and provide analysis and reporting on account activity, production, pace and trends
·Conduct site inspections with clients
·Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports in accordance with corporate reporting standards, including sales activities completed, key account development strategies & relevant sales intelligence
·Develop and maintain key industry partnerships
·Active participation in community and industry related organizations
·Be able to work flexible hours and weekends when required
·Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
·Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.

Coordinate various departments’ participation in servicing accounts.
·Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
·Travel to conduct outside calls, promote the hotels and review competition.
·Represent hotels at trade shows.

Set up exhibits involving bending, stooping, lifting and reaching overhead.
·Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
·Liaise with the General Manager and the Regional Director of Sales regarding planning/updating of the 12-month rolling monthly sales and marketing plan as required by company policy.
·Be proactive in terms of competitor awareness.
·Carry out/organize telemarketing sales, mail-outs and local advertising in accordance with the property budgets.
·Ensure professional and timely preparation/follow up on correspondence/contracts in line with company policy.
·Be accountable for and aggressive in achieving agreed financial targets liaising closely with the General Manager and Regional Director of Sales regarding correlation of rate to volume in order to achieve budgeted average room rate.
·Ensure accurate passing on of booking details to the operational departments following the successful close of a sales call, in order to achieve guest satisfaction.
·Be alert to business peaks and troughs and contribute innovative ideas in order to contribute to the profitability of the property.
·Organize and participate in sales blitz’s as required and liaise closely with the brand, where appropriate, to maximize on sales opportunity.
·Ensure professional and time efficient use of computer programs as required by company policy.
·Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
·Perform any other job-related duties as assigned. Required competencies include:
• Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
•Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers in a friendly and positive manner, in order to solicit business, meet client needs and resolve complaints.
•Ability to move throughout the hotel to conduct site inspections.
• Ability to travel, including a full Driver’s License
• Fluency in Inuktitut is a desirable asset.
