Supervisor, Inventory Management

This is a Contract position in Smithville, ON posted September 28, 2021.

Supervisor, Inventory Management Permanent, full-time position – Hamilton, ON If you’re conversant with Logistics and Inventory Management, and experienced in managing a warehousing and inventory distribution operation, this newly created position within the City of Hamilton would be an exciting opportunity to make your mark while advancing your career.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager of Inventory Management, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the Transportation Operations and Maintenance Division has all the products, materials, equipment and supplies needed to operate efficiently and in alignment with established policies and standards.

As Supervisor of Inventory Management, you’ll provide effective leadership and supervision to inventory-related staff across the Division, primarily to ensure that processes and procedures are developed, implemented and upheld to establish accurate inventory records.

To be successful in this key role, you’ll need to have not only a complete knowledge of inventory processes and familiarity with various inventory management systems, but also a good understanding of the requirements of the Division to which the inventory unit provides service, so that you can determine and implement the programs and activities that will satisfy those requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS Your qualifications as Supervisor, Inventory Management, include: Demonstrated extensive knowledge of the duties listed above normally acquired through a combination of education and progressive work-related experience.

Post-secondary education in operations, business, transportation or warehousing, preferred.

Excellent understanding of Logistics and Inventory Management, with considerable experience managing a warehousing and inventory distribution operation.

Demonstrated ability to lead inventory audits and implement process improvements.

Formal training in Lean/Six Sigma or similar process improvement programs, preferred.

A demonstrated record of customer focus, innovation, team advocacy, and continuous improvement.

Significant experience with parts and materials inventory management, and demonstrated experience working within procurement policies, and procuring materials and equipment using requests for quotation, tender, proposal, and standardization.

Ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure, while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

Experience in supervising on-site inventories, including all associated systems interfaces (e.g.

counting, file management, product changes, etc.).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge and understanding of Lean Principles and the ability to implement those principles into current processes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding, customer-focused working environment.

A high degree of integrity and self-motivation to investigate, analyse, evaluate and correct inaccuracies or errors in your charge.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

Knowledge of HWIN (Hazardous Waste Information Network) and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act.

Computer literacy and proficiency utilizing Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Knowledge of Hansen and Peoplesoft, an asset.

Experience with inventory and asset management software (INFOR IPS, INFOR EAM, SAP, or MRP), preferred.

A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class “G” in good standing; proof thereof is required after hire.

This CUPE Local 1041 Supv permanent, full-time position offers a wage range of $45.210 to $50.233 per hour (based on a 40-hour work week schedule).
